"And they lived happily ever after"

Hi. My name is Michael Shynar. My aunt keeps telling this story of how she found me,  a 3-year-old toddler, sitting on the toilet telling myself stories to pass time. Nowadays when I go to the toilet I take with me a chess book or a newspaper; But I’ve still got the urge to tell stories.

I’ve done some graduate studies in Mathematics and then worked for a giant corporation as a data analyst, programmer and team leader. Now I’m done with that, instead doing some freelance consulting and taking my first entrepreneurial steps.

I live in Tel Aviv, Israel.

• HN Embed: A really nifty greasemonkey script that pulls HackerNews comments into the referenced page. A friend has ported it to chrome.
• I’ve helped integrate an aggregated media search into Wikipedia. Relevant commits.
• A wordpress plugin that allows category-closure. However, on this blog I am using a different plugin.

Other

• Culture jamming events in the Tel Aviv area under the group name shuk.li.
• Built a hovercouch.
• Have been to burning man, and backpacked Alaskan wilderness. (Hebrew travelog)
• I dance Ballroom & Lindy Hop.
